YOUNG EAGLES TO
FLY DURING AIRFEST 2006
Fayetteville, AR-
Does your child
dream of someday being a pilot? That “someday” could be Saturday June
17th or Sunday, June 18th, 2006 as part of
AIRFEST 2006 at Fayetteville’s Drake Field.
The Experimental Aircraft
Association will be giving free rides to young people aged eight to
17. Orientation will begin about 7:00 a.m. and flights will continue
until about noon. Parents must accompany the Young Eagles and sign a
liability release form.
Young Eagles will be
admitted to AIRFEST free of charge, but parents will be required to
pay the $5.00 admission fee. Young Eagle parking will be in the lot
in front of the airport terminal building, and the orientation area
will be inside the terminal and will be well marked.
Because only a limited
number of Young Eagle flights can be flown each day, those who signed
up on Saturday but were unable to ride, will be first in line for
Sunday’s flights.
Of course, the flights
depend on the weather, so it is recommended that those wishing to ride
check the EAA website at
www.eaa732.org for up-to-date information, or information is
available at 479-267-5545.
The Young Eagles are just
the beginning a fun day of flying excitement. The Golden Knights will
jump twice each day, a wing-walker will stand on the wings of a plane
as it loops and rolls, there will be exciting aerial acts by planes
doing things they were never meant to do, a comedy act, and much, much
more. Plus, vintage WWII aircraft, will fly and be on display. See a
B-25, P-47, TBM Avenger, and more. The awesome A-10 Thunderbolts will
demonstrate their mastery of the air and the battlefield. There will
be something for everyone at AIRFEST 2006.
The admission price has
been reduced to make AIRFEST 2006 more affordable for families. Free
admission is offered for children 12 and under. All others will be
only $5.00. Gates will open at 10:00 A.M. each day and the show will
run until about 5:00 P.M. There will be amusement rides for the kids
and the rides will be available during and after the air show.
The proceeds from this
year’s AIRFEST will benefit the American Cancer Society, The American
Heart Association, Arkansas Air Museum, Ozark Military Museum, Angel
Flight and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The gates will close by
about 5:00 p.m. It will be a full weekend of family fun.
Lawn chairs are recommended, but no coolers or pets will be allowed.
